Building a Healthy and Sustainable Future, Together.
The Center for Climate and Health Governance (CCHG) is dedicated to fostering collaborative, evidence-based solutions that address the intertwined challenges of climate change, public health, and governance. We believe that a healthy planet is essential for healthy people and that effective governance is crucial for achieving both.
Our Mission:
To advance climate and health governance through research, education, and collaboration, empowering communities and policymakers to create resilient and equitable futures.
Our Vision:
A world where climate action, public health, and governance, are seamlessly integrated, ensuring the well-being of all people and the planet.
Key Initiatives:
Regenerative Bioregions:
We work closely with cities and states to develop and implement strategies for creating regenerative bioregions. This approach focuses on restoring ecological balance, enhancing community resilience, and promoting sustainable development.
We provide technical assistance, conduct research, and facilitate knowledge sharing to support the transition to regenerative practices in areas such as:
Sustainable agriculture and food systems
Water resource management
Urban greening and ecosystem restoration
Circular economy initiatives
Global Network of CCHGs:
We aim to establish Centers for Climate and Health Governance (CCHGs) in every country.
Our unique approach fosters joint initiatives between local schools of public health and schools of public administration, ensuring a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to climate and health governance.
This collaborative model strengthens local capacity, facilitates knowledge exchange, and promotes the development of context-specific solutions.
By combining the scientific expertise of public health with the policy and implementation knowledge of public administration, we create a powerful engine for change.
Research and Advocacy:
We conduct rigorous research to understand the complex relationships between climate change and public health.
We translate research findings into actionable policy recommendations and advocate for evidence-based solutions at local, national, and international levels.
Areas of research include:
Climate change impacts on vulnerable populations
The health co-benefits of climate action
The role of governance in promoting climate resilience
Environmental justice and equity
Education and Training:
We develop and deliver educational programs and training workshops to build capacity among professionals and community leaders.
We provide resources and tools to support the integration of climate and health considerations into decision-making.
We strive to educate the next generation of climate and health leaders.
